Ahead of the PAK vs ENG series, Shan Masood emphasised on the need for Pakistan to match the physical and mental fitness of other top teams in the world. He addressed the urgent need for the team to make significant improvement, adding that it felt terrible as a captain to get off to a losing start. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the players, along with the coaches, once again huddled together, this time in the name of a connection camp. Several issues, including lack of unity, trust and other matters were raised by players and other stakeholders, which were vowed to be resolved and commitments were taken from the stars. Additionally, the coaches had advised the board against the change of captaincy in the aftermath of the loss to Bangladesh and the PCB has agreed to go ahead with the same.

Pakistan will be hoping to reverse their fortunes in the upcoming series against England. Shan Masood will continue to lead the side while Babar Azam has been included in the XI despite growing calls to drop the batter owing to his pure form. The bowling department will be spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi.
