Arun Dhumal, Abhishek Dalmiya to continue as IPL GC members, decision at BCCI AGM – Report

Jay Shah will take of the role of ICC head on December 1, and is expected to step down from BCCI sec. role in end of November.

There is a lot happening in and around the AGM. Now, as per a report in Cricbuzz, Arun Singh Dhumal and Abhishek Dalmiya are expected to continue as members of the IPL Governing Council. The decision of the two IPL GC members is made every year at the BCCI AGM.

The report further states that the two have filed their nominations for the same, and the duo will be appointed to the positions unopposed at the BCCI AGM. In fact, there have been no other nominations for the positions, apart from them. As far as the member from the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) is concerned, the body has re-nominated V Chamundeswaranath.

So, this in short, means that Arun Dhumal will continue to serve as the IPL chairman for another year. Another agenda will be to appoint BCCI representative to the ICC. Currently, Jay Shah holds that position, but he will soon assume the office of ICC head, so a new face will have to come in.

Need for BCCI SGM

But for that, the BCCI will have to convene a Special General Meeting (SGM), once Jay Shah officially steps down from the position. It is believed, all this will happen by end of November only. Then, post that the BCCI will have 45 days to elect a new secretary. In short, the BCCI would require to choose the new secretary by January 15.
