Neeraj Chopra on future goals: “Our biggest target for next year is the World Championship”

Neeraj Chopra is setting his eyes on the World Championship now. The event will take place in Tokyo in 2025.

India’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra is currently on a break after the conclusion of the athletics season following the Diamond League final in Brussels. After recently securing a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, the athlete from Haryana had a disappointing performance in the Diamond League finals, where he finished second behind Anderson Peters, who claimed the title.

Neeraj’s quest for the elusive 90m mark continues, but this year, his focus is also on the World Championship finals. The two-time World Championship medallist has set his sights on securing a third medal and a second gold at the Tokyo World Championships in 2025.

The biggest target is World Championship

Speaking to PTI, Neeraj Chopra said, “Our biggest target for next year is the World Championship, and we will begin preparations for that now. The Olympics are always on our minds, but we have four years for that. We will focus on any necessary improvements in technique… This time, we had a very good performance in the Paralympics and won several medals. In the coming times, we expect strong performances in both the Olympics and the Paralympics.”

Neeraj Chopra in World Championships

Neeraj Chopra has already tasted success at the World Championships, winning a silver in 2022 and clinching gold in Budapest in 2023. Now, the champion javelin thrower is looking forward to Tokyo 2025 to further solidify his legacy.
