Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti storm into Chengdu Open finals

Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti secured a spot in the Chengdu Open final after defeating the second seeds in a thrilling semifinal match.

Indian tennis star Yuki Bhambri, in partnership with French player Albano Olivetti, has made it to the finals of the ATP 250 Chengdu Open. The duo put on a brilliant performance in the semifinals, overcoming the second-seeded team of Ivan Dodig and Rafael Matos with a scoreline of 6-3, 7-6 (11-9). The match concluded in just one hour and 31 minutes.

The pair is set to face the defending champions and top-seeded French duo of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul in the final. Fans are eagerly anticipating this showdown as Bhambri and Olivetti aim for the championship title.

Bhabri and Oliveti convincing wins

Earlier in the tournament, Bhambri and Olivetti, who were seeded third, displayed remarkable resilience by coming back from a set down to defeat Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo, finishing the match 5-7, 6-3, 12-10. Their strong teamwork and unwavering determination were evident throughout both matches.

Bhambri Absent from Davis Cup

In the recent Davis Cup clash between India and Sweden, Yuki Bhambri was notably absent, along with star singles player Sumit Nagal. While Nagal had cited an injury before the tournament, Bhambri’s reason for not participating remains unknown. India suffered a 4-0 defeat against Sweden in the World Group I tie. The All India Tennis Association (AITA) later accused Bhambri of not declining the opportunity to play in the Davis Cup.
