24 hours, Team India remains on top. Bangladesh were excellent until the second session yesterday, but since then, it’s all gone downhill. First, they let Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin stitch a 199-run partnership, which helped the hosts get from 144/6 to 376. As if that wasn’t enough, they themselves got bundled out for 149 as Jasprit Bumrah breached their defenses time and again, picking his 400th international wicket on his way.
Bumrah was the main man on the 2nd day. He started with a wicket in the very wicket over, rattling the stumps of Shadman Islam. From there on, Bangladesh kept sinking further and further. By the time the first session was over, the visitors had already lost their top five. Although Bumrah only took two of these wickets, it was his brilliance that got India a rollicking start.
He continued to make the Bangladeshi batters dance to his tunes in the second session as well. Jadeja got the prized wickets of Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das; he got Hasan Mahmud caught in slips to claim his 400th scalp. He then got Taskin Ahmed with a toe crusher. However, it was Siraj who ended Bangladesh’s innings and gave India a mammoth 227-run lead.

Rohit-Kohli continue to falter
Virat Kohli‘s rustiness has been on display in the India vs Bangladesh 1st Test. After scoring 6 in the first innings, all he managed in the second dig was 17. Surely, not Kohli or the Indian management expected, especially considering that neither of his dismissals were too great balls. In the second innings, he was trapped in front by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. He was in two minds about reviewing the decision but walked back willingly. It wasn’t until the replay flashed on the big screen and showed it had caught the under edge.
Rohit Sharma, wasn’t exactly out to touch but rather got two unplayable balls. Some luck could have seen him escape, but it wasn’t to be both times. Now, the Indian captain averages just 8.8 against Bangladesh, scoring just 44 runs in 5 innings.
