Fact check: Has Virat Kohli played under Tejashwi Yadav captaincy?

Few people know that Indian politician Tejashwi Yadav has played cricket and, according to Yadav, even captained Virat Kohli.

Tejashwi Yadav, an Indian politician, has claimed that he used to captain India’s star player Virat Kohli in domestic cricket. Cricket fans are intrigued by the fact that Virat Kohli and Tejashwi Yadav played together. Tejashwi was a standout player during his active days in domestic cricket. Is it true that Tejashwi Yadav captained Virat Kohli? Let’s delve into it further.

Has Virat Kohli played under Tejashwi Yadav captaincy?

Tejashwi has said that the Indian former captain played under his captiancy in local cricket.

“I was a cricketer and no one talks about it. Virat Kohli played in my captaincy -did anyone ever talk about it? Why don’t they do so? As a professional, I played a good cricket. Many Team India players are my batchmates. I had to quit as my both ligaments were fractured. Let it be,” Yadav said to Zee Media.

But there isn’t a shred of evidence to imply that Tejashwi ever captained Kohli. Moreover, Tejashwi has actually played in a lot of games under Kohli, starting from their Under-19 days in Vinoo Mankad Trophy to their Under-15 days when they played cricket for Delhi in Polly Umrigar Trophy.

While Tejashwi did captain Delhi in a number of matches, Kohli was never included in that lineup. Whether Kohli played club or school cricket under Tejashwi is a mystery.

Tejashwi Yadav’s cricket career

Throughout his career, Tejashwi participated in one First Class, two List A, and four T20 matches. In domestic competitions, he played for Jharkhand, making his First Class debut in November 2009 against Vidarbha. In February 2010, he played two List A matches, against Orissa and Tripura. His four T20 matches were place in Dhanbad against Bengal, Tripura, Assam, and Orissa.

Few people are aware that Tejaswi signed a contract to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 with the Delhi Daredevils, who are now the Delhi Capitals. He didn’t play a single game for the team between 2008 and 2012; instead, he stayed on the bench.
