The Indian hockey team played its finals against China in the Asian Champions Trophy at Hulunbuir City, China, and defeated them 1-0. This was the first time China had reached the finals of the tournament, while India was competing in its sixth final.
Many spectators gathered to witness the match at the Moqi Hockey Training Base Stadium. Interestingly, Pakistani players were also spotted in the stadium, wearing Pakistan tracksuits but cheering for China, holding and waving Chinese flags.
Pakistan wins bronze
Pakistan staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, overturning a 1-0 deficit to secure a 5-2 victory over Korea in today’s third-place match. Sufyan Khan found the back of the net twice from penalty corners, while Hannan Shahid also scored two goals, and Rooman contributed one.
China defeated Pakistan in the Semifinals
Pakistan failed to reach the finals after being defeated by China in the semifinals. The teams were tied 1-1, leading to a penalty shootout. In the penalties, Pakistan failed to score, while China netted two goals, winning the match 1-1 (2-0).
Five titles for India
In last year’s 7th edition of the Asian Champions Trophy, India secured the championship on home soil, becoming the only team to win the title four times in the tournament’s history. This year, India won it’s fifth Asian Champions Trophy, Jugraj Singh’s goal helped India to get an edge and win the game by 0-1.
