Aakash Chopra believes that Mumbai Indians (MI) might not retain Rohit Sharma for the IPL 2025 auction. He thinks that either Rohit himself may choose not to stay, or the franchise might release him.
Chopra’s view on Rohit’s future
In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra discussed Rohit’s future with MI. He said, “Will he stay or leave? It’s a big question. Personally, I feel he will not stay. Teams retain players with the idea that they’ll stay for three years, unless it’s someone like MS Dhoni. Dhoni’s situation with CSK is different, but I think Rohit might either step away or MI might release him.”
Chopra feels Rohit’s time with MI is over
Chopra added that although anything could happen, he doesn’t think MI will retain Rohit. He speculates that Rohit might move to another team in the trade window or enter the auction if that doesn’t happen. According to him, Rohit’s journey with MI seems to be over.
Hardik Pandya takes over as MI captain
Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, MI brought in Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans (GT) and named him their new captain. Hardik replaced Rohit Sharma, who had led MI to five IPL titles.
