Play has been abandoned on Day 3 of AFG vs NZ Test in Greater Noida following heavy rain. This comes after play was called off on the first two days due to wet outfield. The chances of the game happening on the last two days seem highly unlikely, given the forecast for rain for the remainder of the week and poor facilities at the Greater Noida Sports Complex stadium.
AFG vs NZ Test: Play abandoned on Day 3
As per live visuals, the outfield has been covered as rain continues to pelt down at the venue. Puddles of water were also seen formed on the ground. The cancelation of the day’s play mounts frustration on New Zealand & Afghanistan players and the fans who were eagerly anticipating the contest.
While New Zealand players were seen training on Day 2 in hope of getting some game time, it looks like their hopes have been dashed. Afghanistan, on the other hand, will be disappointed that the game could not take place as planned and they have no one else to blame but themselves as the choice of the venue was made by none other than the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

The match was supposed to start on Monday, but rain and wet outfield meant that the entire day was washed out. No play was possible on the second day of the Test as well, as wet patches had emerged all over the ground. The Greater Noida groundsmen tried grafting a dry patch from the nets area to the main ground, and also tried to dry wet patches using fans. But nothing could make match start.
