World number one ranked tennis ace Jannik Sinner clinched his second Grand Slam of the year after beating Taylor Fritz to win the US Open. The Italian overpowered his opponent with an emphatic 6-3, 6-4 and 7-5 win in the US Open final. Sinner’s victory marks the first-ever Italian to win the US Open.

Sinner was ruthless and was right on top right from set number one. The win has cemented his position at the top of the rankings and marked his 55th win and the sixth title in the current season. After his win, Sinner shed light on the last period of his career which was difficult, referring to the two anti-doping tests that he had failed.
“This title means so much. The last period of my career has not been easy but I have my team and family who support me,” Janik Sinner said.

The American fans were in for a heartbreak as USA’s Taylor Frtiz came up short against Sinner in the US Open final. The last time an American won the title was in 2003 when Andy Roddick clinched the US Open title. Despite the entire arena backing Fritz, he was no match for Sinner and later conceded that Sinner was too good in the game.
“It has been an amazing two weeks. Congratulations to Jannik, he played a great match. He was very impressive and was too good today,” said Fritz.
