The American fans were in for a heartbreak as USA’s Taylor Frtiz came up short against Sinner in the US Open final. The last time an American won the title was in 2003 when Andy Roddick clinched the US Open title. Despite the entire arena backing Fritz, he was no match for Sinner and later conceded that Sinner was too good in the game.

It has been an amazing two weeks. Congratulations to Jannik, he played a great match. He was very impressive and was too good today,” said Fritz.
