Selectors cut short Jasprit Bumrah’s extended break for IND vs BAN Test series

India has announced their squad for the Bangladesh Test series, with Jasprit Bumrah returning.

India has recently announced the squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting on 19th September. A notable inclusion in the squad is star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, whose return adds strength to India’s bowling lineup.

Jasprit Bumrah, considered one of India’s most valuable assets, has been brought back into the squad. Known for being injury-prone, Bumrah is not part of the ongoing Duleep Trophy and was initially expected to be rested, given India’s busy Test calendar. However, selectors have cut short Bumrah’s break, confirming his availability for the Bangladesh series.

Jasprit Bumrah last featured in a Test match during India’s series against England at Dharamsala, which took place in March 2024.

India to play series against three nations

India has a busy test calendar this season, the team will play two Tests against Bangladesh, followed by three Tests against New Zealand in October, before embarking on a crucial five-Test series against Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Mohammed Shami Still Recovering

On the other hand, fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who is recovering from an injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), will not feature in the Bangladesh series. His absence will be felt, but the inclusion of Bumrah is expected to strengthen India’s pace attack.
