Who should RCB target at IPL 2025 auction

Few will get retained, but many will be released. If RCB releases many names, then who should they pick at the IPL 2025 mega auction? See a few top-quality names.

RCB, a team that enters the IPL stage with high hopes but have often failed to secure the silverware. There is no question that every year they showcase a pack of stars, including Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Faf du Plessis, all of whom are superstars. However, collectively they have fallen short of achieving magic for the franchise, and the team is still in search of that pinnacle moment, which has yet to come.

In IPL 2024, they came close by qualifying for the playoffs but failed to reach the finals, as Rajasthan Royals defeated them in the eliminator by four wickets.

The IPL 2025 auction is going to be crucial for RCB. They will retain a few players and release many, but the question is: if they release players, whom should they target in the mega auction? Here are a few names they should consider buying if these players go under the hammer.

Which players should RCB target in 2025?

KL rahul

There are many reasons to pick this local Bengaluru boy, who has extensive experience as both a leader and a player, with more than 4,000 runs. His amazing skills as a gloveman could create an opportunity for him to be in the camp once again. Rahul has already played for RCB from 2013 to 2016, during which he scored 417 runs. Now, with Faf du Plessis, who was the team leader from IPL 2022 to 2024, likely not being retained, there is a possibility for this superstar to captain RCB. He will be the first name RCB considers if LSG does not retain Rahul and releases him.

Rinku Singh

There is no harm in fulfilling Rinku Singh’s desire to play alongside Virat Kohli in the IPL. The star cricketer himself has expressed this wish. With Dinesh Karthik no longer in the mix, there is no better candidate to fill the role of finisher than Rinku Singh. He has substantial experience batting down the order and finishing games single-handedly. His performance in the IPL 2023 match against Gujarat Titans is a prime example where he smashed five sixes in the last over and chased down 29 runs, which was unbelievable. Now the question is: will KKR release him? If so, RCB should clinch the opportunity to bring him into their camp.

Ishan Kishan

One more major name currently not playing for India, and who is out of the central contract, is Ishan Kishan. It is possible that the Mumbai Indians might release this wicketkeeper-batter. With over 100 games of experience, he could be an excellent buy for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The chances of his release from the five-time champion Mumbai Indians camp are high, especially considering a similar scenario with KL Rahul. The team is looking for a wicketkeeper and an opening batter, roles that Kishan fulfills. This is why we may see RCB targeting Kishan in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
