Australia wicket-keeper Josh Inglis produced an innings of a lifetime as he scored the second T20I ton off his career, that was also the fastest by any batter from his country. Playing in the 2nd T20I vs Scotland on Friday, Inglis hit 103 runs in only 49 deliveries, as the Aussies went on to post a mammoth 196 on the board. Scotland lost without putting up much fight and lost by 70 runs.

After going in to bat first, Australia lost 1st T20Is star, Travis Head early. The latter was out for a first ball duck, while Jake Fraser-McGurk could only score 16 from 16. Despite this slowish start, Inglis made his intentions clear from the very start and and hit 7 fours and as many sixes, to get to his century in only 43 balls. He stitched short, yet substantial partnerships with Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis and Tim David.
As far as the Scotland chase is concerned, Stoinis derailed their effort as he returned with figures of 4/23. Green also bagged two wickets as the hosts had no chance in the match. Only Brandon McMullen showed some resistance with his 59 from 42, but apart from that it was a cakewalk for Australian bowlers.

Josh Inglis Slams Fastest T20I Ton for Australia
During the carnage, Inglis bettered his own joint record of 47-delivery ton vs India in Vizag, 2023. Aaron Finch had also slammed a ton in same number of balls in 2013 vs England. In fact, Glenn Maxwell had hit a ton against India in Guwahati in 47 balls too. Having said that, Inglis also became the only wicket-keeper batsman from Australia to score a T20I hundred.
If that is not enough, Josh Inglis also equalled the world record for a hundred by a wicket-keeper batsman from any test nation — Quinton de Kock had hit a ton in 43 deliveries as well.
