The England Cricket Team are currently in a fix. The Three Lions are slated to tour Pakistan for Test series. But, now the originally slated venues are likely to be shifted as constructions at these stadiums continue with the ICC Champions Trophy looming large. It now remains to be seen if the Test series happens in Pakistan or is shifted to a new country.
England will be taking on Pakistan Cricket Team for a Three match Test series which is to commence from 7th October. The first Test match is to be held in Multan while the remaining two matches are to be held at Karachi and Rawalpindi. Since the venues will be a part of the ICC Champions Trophy, as a result, construction work is being currently held at those venues.
England keen to know about change in Venue
Reports in Pakistan suggest that Sri Lanka and UAE are deemed as the alternative options to host the Test matches. But now the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) continue to seek clarification before they can announce their team. With construction work continuing at the stadiums before the mega ICC event, the ECB is currently seeking clarification as to where the matches will be held.
Reports further claim that discussion continue in Pakistan as to where the games can be shifted. England’s new all-format head coach Brendon McCullum has claimed that he is unable to select his Test squad without knowing where the matches will be held.
“We don’t really know (what is happening in Pakistan) but we can’t pick a team until we know where we’re going to play. It would be nice if, over the next couple of days, we found out,” Brendon McCullum said.
“Then we’ll sit down and make sure we’ve got the right team for the right conditions and the right opposition,” he concluded.
