And once again, uncertainty looms large over Ishan Kishan‘s selection and availability. The out-of-favour wicket-keeper batsman was expected to make a comeback to red-ball cricket in the upcoming Duleep Trophy, but was eventually sidelined from the first match of the tournament. As per a report in Cricbuzz, Ishan is carrying an injury, and for the same reason, played only two matches in the Buchi Babu tournament for Jharkhand.
Now, as it turns out, as per a video by ‘Sports With Ravishh’, the India player is not injured, and only had a flu, and his fitness is subject to clearance by the NCA, Bengaluru. If the video is to be believed, Ishan himself confirmed about his illness, and there is no truth in him being injured.
This scenario is a repeat of what had transpired earlier in the year, when the southpaw had refused to play the Ranji Trophy. No one knew if he was injured, or took a break due to mental fatigue.

Curious Case of Ishan Kishan
The roadmap for Ishan, to make a comeback into the Indian team is clear. The BCCI had directed him to resume playing red-ball domestic cricket, and this exclusion from Duleep Trophy will only make the comeback more difficult for him. Due to this, he was sidelined from the T20 World, India vs Zimbabwe series and the India vs Sri Lanka series as well.
