Mumbai Indians have confirmed that Suryakumar Yadav will stick with the franchise for IPL 2025. The confirmation comes after reports of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) offering captaincy to lure the player to their side for the next edition. SKY, who moved from KKR to MI, shot to the spotlight with his swashbuckling batting for the Indians. He has played under Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya so far.
Suryakumar Yadav to stay in Mumbai
As per Sports Tak, a Mumbai Indians official dismissed the reports claiming that it was mere speculation on social media. There are already rumours doing the rounds over the future of Rohit Sharma in MI after he was replaced as captain by Hardik Pandya.
“No, he won’t leave. Just people speculating on social media in order to get engagement,” an MI source told Sports Tak.

Earlier, RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan had reported that we could see a trade between KKR and the Mumbai Indians (MI) before the IPL 2025 mega auction. The report also suggested that MI could remove Hardik Pandya as their captain after just one season.
Suryakumar Yadav was supposed to feature in the Duleep Trophy but will not be taking part in the opening round due to a hand injury that he picked up in the Buchi Babu Tournament. This is a dent in SKY’s dreams to make a comeback to India’s Test side. It is to be noted that Surya has only played one Test so far for the Men in Blue.
