The decennary season of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is inching closer. All eight franchises were active at the WBBL player draft on Sunday. There have been some major developments and surprises from the draft-picks.
The WBBL has been a revelation for women’s cricket, giving it a spotlight and attention that it needed. Australia’ domestic T20 league for women was the first of its kind in the world. Many talented Indian women have also featured in the WBBL.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) prohibits any active male player to participate in overseas T20 / T10 leagues, to manage their workload. In women’s case, it is all quite different. The BCCI has facilitated the participation of women’s cricketers in identified leagues to boost their skill and gain valuable experiences.
