Shakib Al Hasan will play the PAK vs BAN 2nd Test. The former skipper was recently named in a murder case amid the ongoing civil unrest in Bangladesh. Shakib is an MP of the current ruling party, the Awami League, and was named in an FIR following the murder of a garment factory worker.
In Pakistan for a 2-match Test series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was served a notice that said that he shouldn’t be allowed to play for the national side. BCB President Faruque Ahmed had stated that they’d decide on Shakib’s future after the first test was over.
Two days after Bangladesh claimed its first-ever Test victory over Pakistan, it’s been confirmed that Shakib will play the second Test. “It’s an FIR. There are a lot of legal procedures left to prove someone guilty following the filing of an FIR. At this moment, there is no bar on Shakib to continue playing. We have responded to the legal notice which was served to us, and we have said the same thing (no bar on Shakib playing) there too,” BCB President Faruque Ahmed told the Daily Star.
