Who can forget those visuals during IPL 2024, where LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka publicly bashed skipper KL Rahul, after their 10-wicket loss to SRH. Many predicted that might be the end of Rahul’s association with the franchise. But strange things happen in cricket, and if reports are to be believed, the India batter well might be retained for IPL 2025.
Sanjiv Goenka to Retain KL Rahul in LSG?
As per Cricbuzz, as the talks over IPL retentions are in full swing, current skipper Rahul visited the Kolkata office of LSG, for a meeting with Sanjiv Goenka. It is believed that the meeting lasted an hour — their first since the infamous episode on May 8, earlier this year.
It is difficult to say exactly what was discussed in the meeting, but the report further suggests that it was all about team composition. Also, whether or not Rahul is retained or not, will be out anyways, but the meeting itself signifies, that he is here to stay. That could also put Rahul’s alleged move to RCB in jeopardy.

It must be made clear, that the BCCI hasn’t revealed the retention policy as yet, so it is not confirmed as to how many players will a team be able to retain. LSG has swung into action over the last few weeks, and have also brought in Zaheer Khan as a mentor for the team, along with coach Justin Langer.
