The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finally can breathe a sigh of relief. Initially after no takers in the broadcast for the ENG vs PAK Test series, now top British broadcasters BBC is in prime position to take up radio rights of the broadcast. Reports in England claim that there is a huge belief that BBC will broadcast the series in October.
The two nations are slated to face in a 3-match Test series. Along with the BBC, Talksport is also in line to become a candidate to broadcast the Pakistan series in England. Talksport has already acquired the rights to broadcast the New Zealand series which will take place in November-December.
Broadcaster Trouble Ends?
Initially the PCB found it hard to find suitable broadcasters for the 4-match series. “Discussions are underway to telecast the series in England. There are still seven weeks left before the first Test against England starts, we are hopeful that people in England will get to watch the series,” PCB sources said.
But now with BBC showing their interest to claim the radio rights of the series, will be good news for the PCB. Previously when England toured India in January, BBC didn’t have the radio rights of the tournament. In fact it was Talksport who made a last minute deal for the IND vs ENG series.
But as things stand, no broadcaster is fixed for the TV rights in Pakistan. Reports from Pakistan claim that no broadcasters have entered into negotiations to discuss rights with the PCB.
