Former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma spilled the beans on how he led the franchise to five IPL trophies, revealing that it was the ‘taste of winning’. Under the Hitman’s captaincy, MI lifted the IPL cup five times – 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020, the joint most with CSK.
Speaking at CEAT Cricket Rating awards, Rohit said that the taste of winning propelled the team to strive to become better in the future and that was the key to winning the title 5 times.
Rohit Sharma reveals mantra behind winning 5 IPL titles
“There is a reason I won five IPL trophies. I’m not going to stop, because once you get the taste of winning games, winning Cups, you don’t want to stop and we’ll keep pushing as a team. We’ll keep striving for better things in the future,” Rohit Sharma said.
Despite leading the team to five titles, the Hitman has not been able to deliver over the last few editions. He was replaced with Hardik Pandya as the skipper ahead of IPL 2024, a move which sparked outrage. Rohit was a part of the Hardik Pandya-led MI that finished at the bottom of the table in IPL 2024.
