Indian wrestler Ronak Dahiya defeated Turkey’s Emurullah Capkan to win India’s first medal in the U17 World Wrestling Championship. The number two ranked wrestler defeated his opponent in the bronze medal match of Greco-Roman 110kg category to open the account for India. In the previous edition of the tournament, Ronak had managed to secure a silver medal.
Ronak Dahiya wins gold medal in U17 Wrestling World Championships
Dahiya displayed pure dominance during his bout and outclassed his opponent 6-1 in the bronze medal match. The wrestler’s road to the medal started off on a very bright note as he secured a 8-1 victory in his opening bout against Artur Manvelian. He then beat Daniil Maslakou 10-1 in the quarter-final.
However, he faced a heartbreak in the semi-final as he lost 0-2 to Zoltan Czako, who secured the silver medal.

The other Indian in bronze medal contention is Pardhi Sainath. Pardhi is in the hunt for bronze through the repechage round in the 51 kg where he will face Munaretto Dominic Michael of the United States.
