India’s rookie leg-spinner Priya Mishra delivered a stunning performance, taking five wickets to help India A secure a dominant 171-run victory over Australia A in the third and final one-day on Sunday.
After suffering five consecutive losses in the six-match white-ball series, India A finally tasted success in the last match. Earlier, the team lost three T20s and two one-dayers. India A posted a modest total of 243 for nine, with Tejal Hasabnis scoring a 66-ball 50 and Raghvi Bist adding a 64-ball 53. The one-off unofficial Test between the teams will be played in Gold Coast from August 22.
Priya dismissed five players
Priya, a 20-year-old cricketer from Delhi, made an immediate impact in her first match of the tour. She dismissed opener Maddy Darke (22) and top-order batter Tess Flintoff (20), leaving the home side struggling at 52 for four in the 15th over. Priya then ripped through the middle order, taking the wickets of Nicole Faltum (2), Kate Peterson (1), and Nicola Hancock (0), as Australia A was bowled out for just 72 runs in 22.1 overs, giving India A a much-needed consolation win.
Crucial partnership
Earlier in the match, a crucial 104-run partnership between Tejal and Raghvi helped India A recover from a shaky start, where they were 43 for three in the ninth over. The duo, who have been standout performers throughout the series, guided the team to 147 before Tejal was dismissed in the 28th over. Raghvi followed shortly after, but contributions from Sajeevan Sajana (40) and captain Minnu Mani (34) pushed the score beyond the 200-run mark.
