India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi met the athletes from the country’s Paris Olympics team at his residence in New Delhi. He praised the Indian men’s hockey team, double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, Aman Sehrawat, and others, and congratulated them for making the nation proud.
Praise for the Indian Athletes
Earlier, in his address to the nation on the 78th Independence Day, Modi praised Indian athletes for their impressive performance at the Paris Olympics. India won six medals in total, including a silver medal and five bronze medals in athletics, shooting, hockey, and wrestling.
Modi said, “Today, we have with us the youth who made the Indian flag soar high at the Olympics. On behalf of 1.4 billion people, I congratulate all our athletes and players. Soon, a large Indian team will head to Paris for the Paralympics. I wish all our Paralympians the best of luck.”
