Jay Shah affirms 15-day break between IPL and WTC Finals to help team acclimatize

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has claimed India Cricket Team will get 15-day between end of IPL and WTC Finals to help team prepare

India has played 2 World Test Championship (WTC) finals and have failed on both occasions. The recent loss came in 2023 when Australia crushed India in England. Questions were raised whether India got enough time to prepare for the match given IPL 2023 ended days earlier.

However, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah claimed that the gap between IPL and WTC Finals is adequate. He claimed that the team didn’t reach late. But from now onwards should Team India make it to the finals there will be a 15 day break before the two events. Amidst all this, Shah claimed that India should be acknowledged for being the only team to reach the finals twice.

In 2021, India lost to New Zealand and in 2023 they lost to Australia. And now in the recent cycle, India currently tops the WTC Standings and if things go well, India will qualify to the final being the top placed team. Australia on the other hand is a close second.

15 day break before WTC Finals

The team didn’t reach late for previous WTC finals. We had no choice. From now on, we will be having a 15-day gap between the end of IPL and the WTC final. But we should also appreciate the fact that we have qualified for the final twice,” Jay Shah told the Times of India.

Jay Shah has now claimed that the team would get 15 days break between the end of IPL and the WTC Final. This will in the team to acclimatize to weather and the conditions in England. India would be desperately trying to win the WTC Final on their third try.
