At 29, Bangladesh’s fast bowler, Ebadot Hossain, was finally hitting his stride. Having been playing Test cricket for his nation since 2019, the right-arm pacer had started to get consistent opportunities in ODIs as well. Emerging as one of their better 50-over bowlers, Ebadot was struck with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that would rule him out of the ODI World Cup.
One year’s passed since the now 30-year-old fast bowler has yet to play a match at any level. Still to find himself 100%, Ebadot is eyeing making his international comeback in the upcoming India vs Bangladesh Test series starting September 19. Although the Tigers are currently in Pakistan, Ebadot is toiling hard at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, making himself ready for if and when he receives a call-up.
Ebadot eyes IND vs BAN Tests
“I have been bowling for one to one-and-a-half months. Intensity was about 70-80 percent and the trainer has given me a program on how to bowl during the latter half of the program to maintain my fitness. I am hoping to bowl with full intensity in two-three months,” he told reporters in Mirpur.
“My target is to play against India in the two Test matches there. It depends on what the effect of returning with a Test match will be. I think we have an opportunity to play a four day match amongst ourselves, so if a get the chance to play there then I can judge myself that how fit I am and if I am up for playing a Test match,” he added.

Yet to find his full fitness, Ebadot is eager to return to Test cricket. However, the management isn’t certain. They fear that his body might not be ready to take the toll of a Test match just yet. He started training a couple of months ago and would still need 2-3 to bowl at full intensity. But the pacer feels he’s had enough time out of the game and wants to test himself in a 4-day match to see where he’s at.
“Management is thinking about this (India vs Bangladesh series) and whether it will be good for me to return in the Test format. And that’s what I said too that if I can play a four-day match before the India series then I can judge myself and how fit I am for Tests,” Ebadot Hossain concluded.
