Umran Malik’s comeback delayed, injury-prone J&K pacer to miss Buchi Babu Trophy

Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umran Malik, who is injury prone, has revealed that he is looking forward to taking part in Duleep Trophy

Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umran Malik will not take part in the upcoming Buchi Babu Invitational tournament. The fiery bowler has not been in the spotlight since his antics in IPL 2022, mainly owing to injury. His much-awaited comeback journey is now delayed as he is still recovering from dengue and will not be able to take part in the first leg of the domestic season.

Umran Malik’s comeback delayed

I would have loved to play in the tournament, but I’m just recovering from dengue,” Umran Malik told the Indian Express.

The pacer revealed that despite preparing heavily for the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 season, things did not go his way due to the weather conditions through the tournament. He revealed that he sustained a hamstring injury post a dull IPL 2024 season following which he was diagnosed with dengue.

“I want to keep it simple. My plan is to be ready for the domestic season. If I play more matches, then I would definitely be a better bowler. Even though I played only five Ranji matches, I realised how much I gained out of it. I’m waiting for the Duleep Trophy,” Umran Malik added.

The last time Umran Malik played for India was in July 2023 against the West Indies.
