Shan Masood has assured everyone that no member of Pakistan’s Test team is involved in match-fixing. The red-ball captain was asked the question in a pre-series press conference. For those who don’t know, Pakistani players have had a long history of match-fixing. In fact, it was former Pakistan captain Saleem Malik who was the first cricketer to receive a life ban for match-fixing.
Won’t question any player’s intentions: Shan Masood
After a shambolic T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, Babar Azam, Pakistan’s current T20I captain, was also accused of match-fixing by a senior journalist. In light of such accusations, Shan Masood decided to once and for all bury the hatchet and make it clear that such things don’t happen in the current Test setup.
“I will never question any player’s intentions. I don’t think there is anything that points towards match-fixing in the current Pakistan setup,” the Pakistan Test captain said in the Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test pre-series press conference.
