3 big players who might go unsold in IPL mega auction

Check out 3 top players who might not attract any bidders in the upcoming IPL mega auction to be held later this year.

The experienced campaigners who once dominated the league are now finding themselves going unsold. This is mainly because of a dip in form and subpar strike rates. Seemingly, the IPL teams have taken an interest in younger talent and those who can yield great returns consistently. On that note, let us check out 3 such big players who might go unsold in the upcoming IPL mega auction.

3 veterans who might go unsold in IPL auction

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan is not actively taking part in domestic cricket and it’s quite evident that he is considered for Team India’s international fixtures anymore. In addition, Dhawan has been plagued by injuries, making it tough for him to play a full season, especially as a captain.

In the last season, he only played five games for Punjab Kings and missed the rest of the games owing to a shoulder injury. It is likely that PBKS will not retain Dhawan for the upcoming edition, and he might also go unsold in IPL mega auction.

Kane Williamson

Former New Zealand skipper was once a top performer for the Hyderabad-based franchise. There has been a steady decline in his IPL form in the last few seasons. He came under fire for his strike rate, an important element that has dipped significantly in his repertoire.

Steve Smith

Steve Smith has been a part of the several franchises in the IPL. However, the Australian veteran went unsold in the previously conducted auction. Despite his excellent batting form in other T20 leagues around the world, Smith might not find any bidders for himself in the upcoming IPL mega auction.
