The Indian team requests you respect Vinesh’s privacy. It would like to focus on the competitions on hand: Indian Olympic Association,” the IOA said in a statement.
Vinesh Phogat’s dream of achieving a gold medal at the Paris Olympics ends in a heartbreak. Reports indicate that Vinesh was a few grammes overweight. But the rules are extremely strict in terms of a wrestler being overweight. And thus as a result she has been disqualified.
Reports indicate that Vinesh Phogat was roughly 2 kgs overweight the night before. She tried cutting down her weight throughout the night but missed the cut off during the weigh-in by a whisker.
