Anantjeet and Maheshwari narrowly misses bronze in shotgun skeet event at Paris Olympics

After finishing fourth in the qualifications, the Indian duo advanced to the quarterfinals but fell short in the medal round.

The Indian team of Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Singh Naruka narrowly missed out on the bronze medal in the shotgun skeet mixed team event at the Paris Olympics. They lost the bronze medal match to the Chinese team of Jiang Yiting and Lyu Jianlin.

India’s Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Singh Naruka hit 43 out of 48 shots. However, China’s Jiang Yiting and Lyu Jianlin win after hitting 44 out of 48 to claim the bronze medal.

China’s Lyu Jianlin delivered an exceptional performance with a perfect score of 24 out of 24 shots. In contrast, his partner Jiang Yiting missed three of the four shots in the second series but corrected her performance, missing only one of the remaining shots.

The match was played in six stations, with each station allowing four shots per shooter.

Station 1: China’s Lyu Jianlin started strong with a perfect score of 4/4, followed by Jiang Yiting with another flawless 4/4. However, Indian shooter Anantjeet Singh Naruka missed one shot, falling behind.

Station 2: Anantjeet made a comeback by hitting all four clays, but Maheshwari Chauhan missed one target. Lyu Jianlin scored 4/4 again, while Jiang Yiting missed three targets, which levelled the score at 13/16.

Station 3: Jiang Yiting scored 3/4, and Lyu Jianlin hit 4/4. Chauhan missed one target, leaving the teams tied at 20/24.

Station 4: Chauhan missed a shot, while the Chinese team scored a perfect 8/8, giving them the lead.

Stations 5 and 6: The lead remained unchanged in both stations, as both teams scored on all shots. China ultimately secured the victory by the margin of 1 shot.
