Ishan Kishan will make his comeback into domestic cricket. But now the question remains – how soon can Ishan Kishan follow Shreyas Iyer’s suit to make a comeback into the Indian Cricket Team? After persuaded by the selectors, Kishan has now finally decided to play domestic cricket for Jharkhand.
As things stand, Ishan Kishan won’t be playing in the Duleep Trophy. Since he failed to make himself available earlier this year, Kishan won’t be a part of the East Zone. But, now his redemption arc begins as after BCCI Central Contract snub, Kishan is ready to play domestic cricket.
Team India return on cards for Ishan Kishan?
Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were snubbed from the BCCI Central Contract earlier this year for failing to play in domestic cricket. While Iyer after becoming fit played in the Ranji Trophy, Kishan remained aloof. He practiced and played only in IPL 2024. Iyer however made a comeback for Team India for the IND vs SL ODI series.
And now Ishan Kishan is likely to follow suit. Once he plays and performs well for Jharkhand in domestic cricket, it will only be a matter of time before the selectors and Gautam Gambhir recalls him back. While Iyer and Kishan doesn’t have the central contract, they would be according to their match fees when they represent India in International games.
Earlier, back in 2023, Ishan Kishan withdrew himself from the squad and returned midway from the India tour of South Africa series. He claimed that his head wasn’t at the right place after extensive traveling yet not getting enough game time. Though asked by the BCCI to play domestic cricket, Kishan didn’t oblige and was thus subsequently removed from the Central Contract List.
