The former World No. 1 pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty had qualified for the quarters of the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, after winning all their league matches, and now their draw for the next round is out. The Satwik/Chirag duo are now slated to play their match on August 1 against the World No. 4 Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.
Satwik/Chirag Record vs Chia/Wooi Yik
This might not be the best news for Satwik/Chirag since the duo have a poor record against Aaron Chia and Wooi Yik. In the 11 matches they have played against each other, the Indians have lost a staggering eight times, and only won three.
Paris Olympics Performance
In their first match of the Olympics 2024, Satwik/Chirag had beaten the local French pair of Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar 21-17, 21-14. Their second match was cancelled when the German team Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel pulled out due to injury. And then in the last one, they beat the famed team of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto 21-13, 21-13.
Despite the tough draw, nothing can be taken away from Satwik/Chirag, who are perhaps one of the best teams in the world.
