Manu Bhaker’s team to send legal notice to brands for wrongful celebration ads

After clinching double bronze in Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker's team ready to send legal notice to brands for unauthorized congratulatory ads

Manu Bhaker has the talk of the country off late. The reason – Manu Bhaker became the only Indian athlete to win 2 medals in a single edition of Olympics. Her exploits claim as she clinched 2 bronze medals in Paris Olympics. Amidst all the glitter, her manager is set to send legal notice to multiple brands for using her image without her being ambassador for them.

Manu Bhaker currently only endorses Performax Activewear. However after her Paris Olympics exploits, multiple brands have been using her image and videos in making congratulatory posts. Since these brands don’t sponsor Bhaker, it is deemed illegal.

“Since yesterday, almost two dozen brands which are not associated with Manu, have released congratulatory ads on social media with her images and their brands. This is not allowed legally and we are serving legal notices to these brands. This is moment marketing free of cost,” said Neerav Tomar, MD of IOS Sports & Entertainment to Economic Times.

Wrongful usage of image rights without sponsoring the person is a deemed illegal in India. And as a result, Manu Bhaker’s manager will be sending legal notices to these brands.

Manu bhaker rewrote the history books yesterday when she won her second bronze medal in Paris Olympics. She opened her account by clinching the third placed medal in the 10 m Air Pistol women’s event. And a couple of days later she doubled her tally in the 10 m Air Pistol mixed finals alongside Sarabjot Singh.
