India’s ‘golden boy’ Neeraj Chopra arrives in Paris for the Olympics

The athletics events will kick off on August 1 with the 20km race walk.

India’s ace javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, has officially arrived in Paris, gearing up for his event in Paris Olympics. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj created history by becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic gold in track and field.

Neeraj Chopra’s event will take place on August 6. Along with Neeraj Chopra, India’s Kishore Kumar Jena will also take part in the event. The qualification round will be held in two groups, with the top performers from each group advancing to the final event on August 8.

Neeraj Chopra achieved his career-best ranking of 1 in May 2023. He has been travelling extensively in preparation for this competition. Neeraj along with the Indian athletics contingent were training in Poland together before coming to Paris.

The challenge for Chopra

Neeraj Chopra aims to surpass the 90-meter mark at the Paris Olympics, with his national record currently standing at 89.94 meters. He is striving to achieve this milestone.
