India’s ace women paddler Manika Batra has created history. She went on to became the first Indian to reach the pre quarter finals of Olympics. The ace paddler went on to clinch a 4-0 win over Prithika Pavade to secure her place in the Round of last 16. Previously, Sharath Kamal went on to reach the Round of 32 back in Tokyo Olympics.
But now in Paris Olympics, the Commonwealth gold winner, Manika Batra breezed past France’s Prithika Pavade to secure her place in the last 16. The 29-year old completely outclassed her 19 year old opponent with a score line of 11-9, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7.

It is a great moment for Manika Batra who proved too powerful for her opponent, despite being 10 ranks below her opponent. Back in Tokyo Olympics, Manika managed to reach the Round of 32. But now in 2024, Manika has progressed a step further to secure her place in the pre quarter finals.
It was a tightly packed encounter between both the players. Both Manika and Prithika fought hard for every single point with the Indian paddler edging away with every game. Interestingly, Prithika has Indian origin with both her parents being from Puducherry before settling in France in 2003.
