USA Cricket chairman promises fix for ‘minor’ issues flagged by ICC, flays dissenters

The USA Cricket chairman has assured that steps are being taken to fix the issues flagged by the ICC after receiving a notice of suspension

The USA Cricket is taking steps to address the concerns flagged by the ICC, chairman Venu Pisike assured on Monday. His statement comes after the global body issued a notice of suspension to the USA, ordering it to correct its course and comply within the next 12 months. Pisike has been in the eye of the storm ever since three directors of the board levelled serious allegations against the Chairman in a mail to the ICC.

USA Cricket chairman plays down complaints

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Venu spoke about the complaints that were flagged by the ICC and claimed that some of them were minor while others were inaccurate. Speaking about the two directors who had been suspended recently for voicing concerns against the Chairman, Venu stated that they should have followed to process to properly escalate the issue. He claimed that the two individuals reached a ‘nasty’ point which they shouldn’t have if they were loyal.

When you are disagreeing with a majority board decision, it’s a democratic process, there is nothing else right. They keep escalating that to ICC and USOPC which will not show good governance,” he said.

Corruption in USA Cricket

After the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, senior ICC members resigned for lavishly spending in USA. The ICC failed to recuperate the costs from ticket sales. As a result an investigation and audit is currently underway in the ICC. While problems have been persistent in USAC, the tipping point was reached when three directors wrote about corruption to the ICC.

“This systemic corruption and unethical behaviour clearly indicates that they are manipulating the system to secure their future positions on the board, with little regard for promoting diversity or expanding membership,” read the email.
