PV Sindhu outclasses Fathimath Abdul Razzaq, oozes confidence at start of medal hunt at Paris Olympics

PV Sindhu beat Maldives' Fathimath Abdul Razzaq in the first game of the Paris Olympics 2024, kicking off the campaign on a victorious note

Ace India shuttler PV Sindhu simply outplayed her opponent in her first game at the Paris Olympics. The Indian secured a comfortable 21-9, 21-6 victory over her rival in what was seemingly a one-sided match. Sindhu gained momentum in the game in a very quick fashion, mounting pressure on Fathimath with points coming very quickly.

PV Sindhu starts Paris Olympics campaign on winning note

The win against Fathimath means PV Sindhu has commenced her journey towards a consecutive Olympics medal in women’s singles event. The Indian did not allow her Maldivian rival to feel settled and forced her into comitting errors right from the first set. As if the damage of the first game wasn’t enough, PV Sindhu got off to a flying start in the second round, maintaing a healthy lead.

However, it soon started to go downhill for Fathimath as she lost the opportunity to close in on the lead with Sindhu dominating once again. Sindhu raced to 15-6 in the second set in no time. Within minutes, Sindhu clinched the second set 21-6 as well.
