Manu Bhaker finishes 3rd, qualifies for Women’s 10m Air Pistol Olympic medal round; Rhythm Sangwan out

The elimination of Rhythm Sangwan is a setback for the Indian team, but the focus now shifts to Manu Bhaker and her quest for an Olympic medal on Sunday.

Manu Bhaker has qualified for the final of the women’s 10m air pistol event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, finishing third in the qualification round with a score of 580. Her teammate Rhythm Sangwan, however, failed to make the cut, finishing 15th with a total of 573.

Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Antoaneta Kostadinova also failed to make into final.

Dominant Manu Bhaker

Manu Bhaker’s consistent performance throughout the qualification round, highlighted by four scores of 97 and two of 96, secured her place among the top eight shooters who will compete for the medals. The final is scheduled for tomorrow at 3:30 PM.

Tokyo redemption at Paris Olympics?

The 23-year-old Indian shooter will be looking to redeem herself after the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics, where she faced technical issues with her pistol. Manu Bhaker will be aiming to secure India’s first medal in the shooting events at Paris 2024.

The competition for the gold medal is expected to be fierce, with top shooters like Veronika Major and Oh Ye Jin from South Korea posing a strong challenge.

All eyes on Manu Bhaker

India will be hoping for a strong performance from Bhaker in the final and a chance to add to the country’s medal tally.
