Indian rower Balraj Panwar suffered a setback at the start of his Paris Olympics campaign after he failed to qualify for quarterfinals in the first round of heat. Panwar finished 4th, with a timing of 7:07.11, which confirms his participation in the repechage round tomorrow.

Panwar covered the first 1000m in 3:31.24 where he was positioned 4th. He will now compete in the repechage round scheduled to take place on Sunday at 01:06 pm IST.
Makintosh Thomas, Ntouskos Stefanos and Elbanna Abdelkhalek have qualified for the quarterfinals after finishing as the top three. New Zealamd’s Mackintosh finished on top with a best of 6:55:29.
