India has entered the Paris Olympics with its strongest archery contingent in recent history, competing in all five possible events: men’s and women’s team and individual, as well as the mixed team. The team’s impressive performance on the opening day, highlighted by Dhiraj Bommadevara’s stellar individual ranking, has raised hopes of multiple medal wins.

Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara star

Led by the impressive debut of Ankita Bhakat and the consistent performance of Dhiraj Bommadevara, the Indian archers have shown remarkable form. Bhakat’s 11th place finish in the women’s individual ranking round was a standout performance, surpassing seasoned campaigner Deepika Kumari.

Dhiraj Bommadevara, on the other hand, secured a fourth-place finish in the men’s individual rankings, demonstrating his exceptional talent.

Indian Men’s and Women’s Archery Team – Medal Hopefuls

The Indian men’s team, comprising Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav, finished third in the team ranking round, setting up a potential quarterfinal clash against either Turkey or Colombia.

The women’s team, consisting of Ankita Bhakat, Kumari, and Bhajan Kaur, secured the fourth spot, putting them in contention against France or the Netherlands in the next round.
