India’s ODI World Cup 2023 star pacer, Mohammed Shami, has been eagerly anticipating his return to the team. Shami has been absent from the field since the ODI World Cup final, where he had a remarkable tournament as the leading wicket-taker.
Following the tournament, Shami underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon in February. Since then, he has been in rehabilitation, working hard to recover quickly. Recently, he shared a post on social media hinting at his return, showing that he has started practicing in the nets.
When will Mohammed Shami return in Indian team?
Shami’s comeback is highly anticipated, as he has been a star bowler for India in recent years. There were expectations that Mohammed Shami might return for the Test series against Bangladesh, beginning on September 19.

“Shami has started to bowl, which is a good sign. September 19 is the first Test against Bangladesh, and that was always the goal. I don’t know if that is his timeline for recovery; we will have to ask the guys at the NCA about that,” Agarkar said during a press conference before the team left for Sri Lanka.
If Shami doesn’t make it to the Bangladesh series, he will have to wait for the New Zealand series, starting on October 16.
