How many medals is India going to win at the Paris Olympics? Will Neeraj Chopra be able to defend his gold medal? What all Indian athletes will land at the podium at Olympics 2024? These are some of the few questions that every Indian fan has in their minds, as the Games begin on July 26. India will have to wait till August 11 to get the answers to these questions.
Having said that, as per Gracenote’s predictions, there is a sense, that India would not even end in the top 30 nations. As per them, Jamaica will finish at 30th spot — with one gold, five silvers, and four bronze medals. Once again, USA will top the medals tally with 39 golds, and 112 medals overall. It is important to note, that for Tokyo 2020, Gracenote had predicted 14 medals for the country, while they actually ended at seven only.
India Medal Prediction at Paris Olympics
While Gracenote hasn’t predicted the number of medals that India is going to win, there are some tweets surfacing online, claiming that India would win five medals at the Paris Olympics, as per the agency. Going by this particular tweet, India will win a gold each in boxing, shooting and athletics, followed by two silvers as well.
If one analyses India’s chances closely, there is a possibility that these predictions might just come true, In boxing, we have twin World Champion, Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain who can chip in. There is Nishant Dev and Amit Panghal in the mix as well, but women’s category is what looks more solid for now.
On the other hand, there is a prediction of another gold in athletics. Unless for a major surprise, this could be none other than Neeraj Chopra, who had won a gold in Tokyo 2020 as well. If we see a major surprise, then it could be 3000m steeplechaser Avinash Sable. Then we have shooting. A sport that has drawn a blank for India in the last two editions, could be in the limelight again. There are likes of Manu Bhaker, Sift Kaur Samra, and Sarabjot Singh, who can up their game at the biggest stage of them all. So, it is all worth the wait, to see how many medals can India actually go on to clinch.
