Neeraj Chopra hints being under pressure as defending champion going into Paris Olympics

Neeraj Chopra also said that it will feel different to defend the title.

India’s Olympic and world champion in men’s javelin throw, Neeraj Chopra is set to compete at the Paris Olympics. He’s among the 28-member Indian athletics team shortlisted by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) for the upcoming.

Neeraj Chopra, known for his impressive performances, is a favorite to defend his title. Despite rumors of an adductor muscle injury, he remains focused and optimistic about achieving greatness in Paris.

Attention was on others: Neeraj Chopra on Tokyo Olympics

Chopra also spoke about how it will feel a little different to participate in the upcoming Olympics as compared to Tokyo Olympics. “At the Tokyo Olympics, (Johannes) Vetter was the favourite. I admit that there was more attention on the other athletes. I was focused on myself, but I was under much less pressure because it was my first Olympics,” Chopra said in an interview with Sportstar.

But despite that, javelin was on the last day of the competition, so all that pressure kept building up, and it still came down to me. Everyone else was done. That meant that everyone’s attention was just on me because I was the last Indian in action,” he added.

Neeraj Chopra also said that it will feel different to defend the title. “I got a little experience of what that’s like at last year’s Asian Games,” he said.
