Will Neeraj Chopra and PV Sindhu win medals at the Paris Olympics? Leander Paes gives his verdict

Will golden boy Neeraj Chopra and badminton queen PV Sindhu hoist the Indian flag at the top? Here’s what tennis legend and 1996 Atlanta Olympics medalist Leander Paes thinks.

Veteran Indian tennis player Leander Paes, who took center stage at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games by bagging the bronze medal in men’s singles tennis, has recently opened up about India’s chances at the Olympics. He discussed top players and his expectations from all the superstars at the Paris Olympics.

India’s javelin star, Neeraj Chopra, who is aiming for his second Olympic medal, is currently Leander Paes’ top favorite track and field athlete. Chopra, who clinched the gold with a throw of 87.58 meters at the Tokyo Olympics, is currently the blue-eyed boy of India and also the country’s hope at the Olympics.

Leander Paes on Neeraj Chopra

Speaking about Neeraj Chopra, Paes said, He is one of the greatest athletes in our Olympic history. I feel there is a lot of pressure on him this time since he would like to replicate the same wonders he did in the last Olympics. “I fully support him and am pleased with how well he conducts himself as a human being—his humility and positivity are admirable. The way he handles pressure is something youngsters can learn from. I believe he will return with flying colors from Paris, he told TOI.”

Lot of Hopes from PV Sindhu – Paes

Apart from Neeraj Chopra, he also expressed his hopes for PV Sindhu, as he believes she is one of the greatest badminton players India has ever had. Speaking about her past achievements, where Sindhu won two Olympic medals back to back and has five BWF World Championships medals to her name, Paes believes it is remarkable and has high hopes for her to win another elite medal. “I am a strong supporter of her and wish her all the best at the Paris Olympics,” Paes said.
