‘Freak’ Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback from injury unbelievable, credit goes to him: India’s outgoing bowling coach

India's outgoing bowling coach Paras Mhambrey admitted that Jasprit Bumrah came back from his back injury to be more stronger and effective

India cricket team’s outgoing bowling coach Paras Mhambrey called ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah a ‘once in a generation’ bowler as he heaped praise on Boom Boom. Mhambrey felt that the premium pacer was a freak who was ‘right up there’ in all three formats of the game. The bowling coach’s stint with Team India ended with the side lifting the T20 World Cup earlier in June.

‘Credit goes to Jasprit Bumrah’

Speaking to The Hindu, Mhambrey credited Bumrah for making a comeback from injury in a spectacular fashion, joking that he wished he could take the credit for the same. He admitted that he had never seen a player come back more stronger and effective after a back surgery as Bumrah did.

But the credit completely goes to him. Just the way he just bounced back from that injury, was heartening to see. I haven’t seen many people going through a back surgery, coming back and being as or may be more effective than what he was earlier,” Mhambrey said.

He added that there was a lot of maturity in the side, noting that Bumrah knew his job very well. He stated that it was not only the pacer’s job to guide the team to victories with his bowling but also to back and guide the younger quicks of the team.

Unmatchable Bumrah

Among current players, no one can match the skills and excellence of Bumrah. He claimed 15 wickets at an impressive average of 8.26 and an astonishing economy rate of 4.17 in the T20 WC. He joined Virat Kohli as one of the Indian players to win the Men’s T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament award.
