Rejoice Spain fans! The Spanish have once again won the age old rivalry against England. A confident win over the Three Lions see La Roja lifting their 4th Euro Cup title. After a long hap of 12 years, Spain have revived, and have become the champions of Europe.
Spain started off well, but England were resilient to fend off any attack. Eventually, after a cagey half of 45 minutes, both teams headed into the break. Spain made a half time substitute as Zubimendi came on to replace Rodi. And 2 minutes into the second half, Spain opened the scoring.
Young winger Lamine Yamal with his deft touch laid off a brilliant pass to Nico Williams who slotted it home past a diving Pickford.
A team under transition!
Ever since their golden era, Spain have performed well. Since their last hurrah in Euro 2012, La Roja has failed to win any silverware, including some questionable performances in both 2018 and 2022 World Cup. Cole Palmer equalised for England 2 minutes after he was subbed in. But Spain regained control and in the dying minutes of game, Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winning goal for his side.
Spain has gone through a number of transition over the years. The seniors players have made way for the youngsters. And now it is the new crops that help Spain lift the title.
Back in 1964, Spain won their first Euro. Then came the golden period which won the title in 2008 and repeated it 4 years later in 2012. And now after a span of 12 years, the Spanish armada has finally risen to topple England and lift their 4th title.
