Rohit Sharma announced his retirement after winning the T20 World Cup. But India skipper has no immediate plans to retire from Tests and ODIs

No Rohit Sharma is not interested to retire from cricket immediately. The Indian skipper announced his retirement from T20Is after Team India lifted the T20 World Cup in Barbados. Since then question has been circulating over the potential retirement of Rohit Sharma. But now in USA on a vacation, Rohit has claimed that he is still playing for a while and has no imminent hopes of retiring.

Right after India’s win in the T20 World Cup, ace Indian batter Virat Kohli announced his retirement to retire from the shortest format of the game. An hour later in the post match press conference, it was Rohit Sharma’s announcement which shook the world. While people have questioned about his longevity, but now 37 years old, Rohit isn’t becoming younger.

“I don’t look that far ahead. So clearly you will be seeing me play at least for a while,” Rohit Sharma said.

What’s Next for Rohit Sharma?

The Indian skipper has just announced his retirement from the T20Is. He will continue to play IPL and will be leading Team India in ODIs and Test cricket. As things stand, India are determined to win the Champions Trophy in 2025 under Rohit’s captaincy. Following which, India is also keen on lifting the WTC Finals.

Under Rohit Sharma, India played the finals of the ODI World Cup, eventually losing out to Australia. But now that the ICC jinx is broken and the team is set, India is out for more silverware. Rohit will continue playing and leading his country in ODIs and Tests and has no hopes of retiring soon.
