Fancy watching Neeraj Chopra in Olympics? Prices on surge in Paris as hotels could be min. of Rs 14k/night

Paris is consistently ranked as one of the world's most visited cities. In 2023, it attracted over 47.5 million tourists.

Dreaming of cheering on Neeraj Chopra defend his gold medal at the Paris Olympics? Then the dream might prove to be heavy on your pocket. As sports fans from across the globe will be in Paris to support their country, securing a place to stay can become a significant financial hurdle for them as hotel prices are going to rise during the Paris Olympics.

The Paris Olympics are set to begin this month. The biggest sporting event will start on July 26th and end on August 11th. Let’s explore what to expect regarding hotel costs during this mega sporting event.

Outrageous Rates During Paris Olympics

According to Booking.com, a luxurious 16-night stay (during the Olympics) for two adults in a top-rated Parisian hotel can reach a staggering ₹44.1 Lakh (₹4,072,968 + ₹31,216 taxes and fees). On the other hand, budget-conscious travellers can find options starting at ₹7.12 Lakh (₹6,98,314 + ₹13,928 taxes and fees) for the entire period. As 77 percent of hotels are already booked and occupied, these prices represent the current market and may surge closer to the event.

Cost for one night

The top-rated hotel, Villa des Pres, will cost a whopping ₹2.73 Lakh (₹2,54,000 + ₹19,619 taxes and fees) for a single night. The cheapest room in the city will cost around ₹13.7 thousand (₹11,819 + ₹1,958 taxes and fees) per night.

Post-Olympics rates give relief

Olympic price tags are higher than the normal days in the city. During the third week of August, luxury accommodations like Villa des Pres will cost much less than the Olympics, with prices settling around ₹45 thousand (₹43,366 + ₹1,951 taxes and fees). The cheapest hotel will cost ₹ 3,971 per night.
