Babar Azam & Shan Masood to be part of PCB’s new selection committee ahead of Bangladesh Test series

Pakistan last won a home Test series in February 2021 and lost 3-0 to Australia in the 3-match series they played in December-January.

After sacking Wahab Riaz as Pakistan’s chief selector, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to appoint a new selection committee ahead of the Bangladesh Test series. Wahab was let go due to Pakistan’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup, which knocked them out of the group stage.

Now, the PCB has decided to appoint a new selection committee comprising their captains, coaches, and former cricketers. According to GeoSuper, head coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, reputed ex-cricketers Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq, will choose the squad for the 2-match Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test series. Current Test and T20I captains Shan Masood and Babar Azam will also play an integral part in the selection committee as well.

According to PCB’s chief, Mohsin Naqvi’s new directive on selection based on fitness, players in contention to make the squad will be invited to the training camp, where they’ll undergo rigorous fitness tests, and only if they pass will they be selected.
